Revision is like this . . .

Revision is simply an activity that makes a draft BETTER.  Writing is not finished until it is REVISED.  It takes time to do a good job.

Guidelines for Revision:

• Is my topic focused?  Do all of my ideas and details relate to my topic?
• Does my writing have clear lead (introduction), body (big middle section), and conclusion (closing thoughts)?
• Do I provide plenty of specific examples and details?
• Do I challenge my word choice with strong adjectives, adverbs, and verbs.
• Do I challenge my sentences – showing variety in length and sentence structure?
• Do my sentences sound like they flow smoothly.
• Have I said what I wanted to say and expressed my ideas clearly?
